Punky Brewster Layouts

In 1986, a couple of guys from L.A. came to Toronto and set up a Farm Studio just down the street from Nelvana. They were doing layouts for Hanna Barbera on Smurfs and Flintstone Kids, Ruby/Spears on Punky Brewster and Laser Tag. A few layout artists from Nelvana split off and started doing work for them. I did both CareBears and this stuff at the same time for about two months. I compared my $500.00/week paycheque from Nelvana with their $2000.00/week paycheque and decided to quit Nelvana to go full time. It was good for about 6 months until one day they just closed shop. I've never seen a finished episode of this series.

While the show itself was very poorly animated, we did put an awful lot of work into the layout posing, in some cases actually keying out the animation.

This was one of my favorite sequences from a posing point of view.
