This is my work in progress on the Phil Hartman Flat TV project. I'm using an audio track produced and recorded by the late Phil Hartman back in the early 1980's. He wrote these audio clips for the purpose of putting together an voice over demo tape to get jobs at animation studios. He was successful, working on a number of different children's shows throughout the 80's and most notably on The Simpson's as Troy Mclure and lawyer Lionel Hutz.
I was asked to bring these various audio clips to animated life, given absolutely free rein to use whatever style and methods I wanted. This piece is called "The Monday Night Mystery Theater" It features one of Phil's favorite characters, "Chick Hazzard" a hard boiled private eye who narrates his own adventures. I'm doing all the design work myself and several of my students have also been contributing with modelling, texturing, technical direction, and lighting.
